THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME —C— We are on the 33rd Sunday in ordinary time which means that we only have two weeks left before we enter a new liturgical season. The readings set a mood about the end time which is being highlighted in the season of advent. The Liturgy of the Word reminds us of the end time, which may be scary but something we need to think about. Today more than ever we need to be serious with our relationship with God and with others. We should make a constant effort to check whether we are doing our Christian obligations, which is necessary to be prepared for what lies ahead. If it is scary to talk about death, then it would be even more difficult to talk about the end time which means the end of everything that exists in this world. However, while the gospel talks about the end of the world it also reminds us that the presence of earthquakes, famines and plagues do not mean that it would be immediately the end. Consider them as reminders for us to live a meaningful life. Instead of being scared the best thing to do is to prepare and believe that the end will come anytime.
33 DOMINGO DE TIEMPO ORDINARIO —C— Estamos en el domingo 33 del tiempo ordinario, lo que significa que solo nos quedan dos semanas antes de que entremos en una nueva temporada litúrgica. Las lecturas establecen un estado de ánimo sobre el tiempo del fin que se destaca en la temporada de adviento. La Liturgia de la Palabra nos recuerda el tiempo del fin, que puede dar miedo, pero es algo en lo que debemos pensar. Hoy más que nunca necesitamos ser serios con nuestra relación con Dios y con los demás. Debemos hacer un esfuerzo constante para verificar si estamos cumpliendo con nuestras obligaciones cristianas, lo cual es necesario para estar preparados para lo que se avecina. Si da miedo hablar de la muerte, entonces sería aún más difícil hablar del fin de los tiempos, que significa el fin de todo lo que existe en este mundo. Sin embargo, mientras el evangelio habla del fin del mundo también nos recuerda que la presencia de terremotos, hambrunas y plagas no significa que sería inmediatamente el fin. Considéralos como recordatorios para que vivamos una vida significativa. En lugar de asustarse, lo mejor que puede hacer es prepararse y creer que el final llegará en cualquier momento.
