THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT —A— As the season progresses we slowly but clearly see where it leads us. Now that we are on the third Sunday of Advent, the spirit of the season tells us to rejoice, hence, the third Sunday of advent is regarded as the “GAUDETE’ or “REJOICE’ Sunday. The name implies the mood and the character of the third week. It is unique in the sense that it is slightly different in terms of its color and theme. This time the liturgical color changes from purple into rose and its emphasis is on rejoicing. Truly, there are more than enough reasons to rejoice as explained by the three readings we have this Sunday. In the first reading, Isaiah addressed those who are frightened: “Be strong, fear not! Here is your God, He comes with vindication, with divine recompense he comes to save you.” If this is not enough reason to rejoice, then I do not know what is. There could be times when life situations are hard, and to some, extremely difficult, but God’s presence is enough to wipe all those fears away. James in his letter encourages us to be patiently waiting. We must be inspired by the farmers who wait for the first and last rain for their crops. Rain is symbolic of God's grace. Finally, we must rejoice, as the gospel says, that Jesus is the one to come who will give hope to those who suffer. Believe that in the messianic- era, our sufferings will turn into joy!
3 DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO —A— A medida que avanza la temporada, vemos lenta pero claramente a dónde nos lleva. Ahora que estamos en el tercer domingo de Adviento, el espíritu de la temporada nos dice que nos regocijemos, por lo tanto, el tercer domingo de adviento se considera el domingo "GAUDETE" o "REGOCIJAR". El nombre implica el estado de ánimo y el carácter de la tercera semana. Es único en el sentido de que es ligeramente diferente en términos de color y tema. Esta vez el color litúrgico cambia de morado a rosa y su énfasis está en el regocijo. Verdaderamente, hay razones más que suficientes para regocijarse como lo explican las tres lecturas que tenemos este domingo. En la primera lectura, Isaías se dirige a los que tienen miedo: “¡Ánimo, no temáis! Aquí está vuestro Dios, Él viene con vindicación, con la recompensa divina viene a salvaros.” Si esto no es motivo suficiente para alegrarse, entonces no sé qué lo es. Puede haber momentos en que las situaciones de la vida sean difíciles y, para algunos, extremadamente difíciles, pero la presencia de Dios es suficiente para eliminar todos esos temores. James en su carta nos anima a esperar pacientemente. Debemos inspirarnos en los agricultores que esperan la primera y última lluvia para sus cultivos. La lluvia es un símbolo de la gracia de Dios. Finalmente, debemos regocijarnos porque el evangelio dice que Jesús es el que ha de venir y dará esperanza a los que sufren. ¡Creed que en la era mesiánica nuestros sufrimientos se convertirán en alegría!
