THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD —A— Today is the Solemnity of the Epiphany, the revelation of the Messiah to the gentiles and the manifestation of God’s plan of salvation for all humankind. The people at that time were a little confused as to what or who the Messiah was. As it was then, so it is now--the search is on! In today’s gospel, we learn how the magi found the Messiah. They searched diligently and they were guided by a star. Let us take our cue from them. Surely we want to find God, therefore we must be diligent and we must be open to the guidance from above. To find God, we must go out of our way and leave our comfort zone. The poor shepherds also found the Messiah because they were simple and humble. Complicated and prideful people are less likely to find God because they do their search from their own perspective and standard. They are full of themselves, not trusting anyone. The magi found God because they were willing to begin their journey no matter how difficult and inconvenient it maybe. They were serious and motivated on their search. They also showed their humility and submitted themselves to someone who was said to be the King of Kings. We must follow the example of these wise men, who, showed their joy and enthusiasm in finding Him, no matter how difficult the process will be. We must learn to bow down and bend our knees in recognition of the great gift that we found in Jesus!
LA EPIFANÍA DEL SEÑOR —A— Hoy es la Solemnidad de la Epifanía, la revelación del Mesías a los gentiles y la manifestación del plan de salvación de Dios para toda la humanidad. La gente en ese momento estaba un poco confundida en cuanto a qué o quién era el Mesías. Como era entonces, así es ahora: ¡la búsqueda ha comenzado! En el evangelio de hoy, aprendemos cómo los magos encontraron al Mesías. Buscaron diligentemente y fueron guiados por una estrella. Sigamos nuestro ejemplo de ellos. Seguramente queremos encontrar a Dios, por lo tanto debemos ser diligentes y debemos estar abiertos a la guía de lo alto. Para encontrar a Dios, debemos salir de nuestro camino y salir de nuestra zona de confort. Los pastores pobres también encontraron al Mesías porque eran sencillos y humildes. Las personas complicadas y orgullosas tienen menos probabilidades de encontrar a Dios porque hacen su búsqueda desde su propia perspectiva y estándar. Están llenos de sí mismos, sin confiar en nadie. Los magos encontraron a Dios porque estaban dispuestos a emprender su viaje por más difícil e inconveniente que fuera. Estaban serios y motivados en su búsqueda. También mostraron su humildad y se sometieron a alguien que se decía que era el Rey de Reyes. Debemos seguir el ejemplo de estos sabios, quienes, mostraron su alegría y entusiasmo por encontrarlo, por más difícil que sea el proceso. ¡Debemos aprender a inclinarnos y doblar nuestras rodillas en reconocimiento del gran don que encontramos en Jesús!
