FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT —C—
The basic Christian reality is that God wants all of us to be happy! And because of that, He gave man everything under his care. But things changed when man fell into sin. And we are going to refect more on this as we enter into the season of lent. This is the frst Sunday in lent and lent is the period of 40 days which started on Ash Wednesday. It is a time when we are called to a life of holiness through repentance of our sins. Three important components are required: PRAYER, FASTING and ALMSGIVING. Holiness is not at all easy because of the presence of temptation around us. Temptation can be everywhere: in your home, in your work place, in your neighborhood and even here in the church. How do deal with temptation when it could be too strong to handle and too diffcult to resist? To help us deal with our own temptations is to see how Jesus deals with his own temptations by the devil. He was tempted by the devil three times in the gospel. The frst temptation was to change the stone into bread. The second one is about material riches, all the kingdoms of the world and the last one is about power. He was asked to throw himself down from the parapet of the temple. All these are the devil’s ways to make Jesus doubt himself and to abandon his mission. Notice that in all temptations, Jesus’ defense is the Word of God. Therefore, Jesus tells us the key. We must use the Word of God to fght with temptation. Like Jesus, we must place our trust and confdence in God.
This week I want to recognize the stewardship of MR. and MRS. ARNULFO AND LUCILA CAMPUZANO. They are a wonderful couple who are both active in a number of ministries. Arnulfo is a lector and both of them are Eucharistic ministers. The spirit of service runs in their family because even their kids are also serving. Thank you guys for your dedication!
PRIMER DOMINGO DE CUARESMA ---C---
La realidad cristiana básica es que Dios quiere que todos seamos felices! Y por eso le dio al hombre todo lo que estaba bajo su cuidado. Pero las cosas cambiaron cuando el hombre cayó en pecado. Y vamos a refexionar más sobre esto al entrar en la temporada de cuaresma. Este es el primer domingo de cuaresma y la cuaresma es el período de 40 días que comenzó el Miércoles de Ceniza. Es un tiempo en el que somos llamados a una vida de santidad a través del arrepentimiento de nuestros pecados. Se requieren tres componentes importantes: ORACIÓN, AYUNO y LIMOSNA. La santidad no es nada fácil por la presencia de tentaciones a nuestro alrededor. Las tentaciones pueden estar en todas partes: en tu casa, en tu lugar de trabajo, en tu barrio e incluso aquí en la iglesia. ¿Cómo lidiar con las tentaciones cuando podrían ser demasiado fuertes y difíciles de resistir? Para ayudarnos a lidiar con nuestras propias tentaciones es ver cómo Jesús trata con sus propias tentaciones por parte del diablo. Fue tentado por el diablo tres veces en el evangelio. La primera tentación fue convertir la piedra en pan. El segundo es sobre las riquezas materiales, todos los reinos del mundo y el último es sobre el poder. Se le pidió que se arrojara desde el parapeto del templo. Todas estas son formas del diablo para hacer que Jesús dude de sí mismo y abandone su misión. Note que en todas las tentaciones la defensa de Jesús es la Palabra de Dios. Por lo tanto, Jesús nos dice la clave. Debemos usar la Palabra de Dios para luchar con las tentaciones. Al igual que Jesús, debemos depositar nuestra confanza en Dios.
Esta semana quiero reconocer la administración de MR. y la SRA. ARNULFO Y LUCILA CAMPUZANO. Son una pareja maravillosa que están activos en varios ministerios. Arnulfo es lector y ambos son ministros de la Eucaristía. El espíritu de servicio corre en su familia porque incluso sus hijos también están sirviendo. ¡Gracias chicos por su dedicación!
