PALM SUNDAY OF THE LORD’S PASSION —C—
Holy Week begins with the celebration of Palm Sunday aka The Triumphal Entry of Jesus unto Jerusalem. This event gives us an opportunity to join Jesus with his journey into the holiest days of the year. It also opens our minds and hearts to the theological significance of these days.
Like a warrior, Jesus enters the city where he will be mocked, tortured, stripped, crucified, died only to rise after three days. He conquered death!
While we know the significance of the event of the solemn entrance, a few things are something to reflect on. First, the manner Jesus entered the city; unlike kings in those days, Jesus was riding on a colt which is a small animal. This is to teach us the value of humility. He who is the Son of God has to be human and suffered in order to lay down his life for us. Second, the manner he was welcomed by the people. The crowd was singing ‘HOSANNA’. They were filled with enthusiasm during his entry into the city but would turn against him so quickly within days and demand for his crucifixion.

La Semana Santa comienza con la celebración del Domingo de Ramos, también conocido como La Entrada Triunfal de Jesús a Jerusalén. Este evento nos da la oportunidad de unirnos a Jesús en su viaje hacia los días más santos del año. También abre nuestras mentes y corazones al significado teológico de estos días.
Como un guerrero, Jesús entra en la ciudad donde será burlado, torturado, despojado, crucificado, muerto para resucitar después de tres días. ¡Él venció a la muerte!
Si bien sabemos el significado del evento de la entrada solemne, algunas cosas son algo para reflexionar. Primero, la manera en que Jesús entró en la ciudad; a diferencia de los reyes de aquellos días, Jesús estaba montado en un pollino, que es un animal pequeño. Esto es para enseñarnos el valor de la humildad. El que es Hijo de Dios tiene que ser hombre y sufrir para dar su vida por nosotros. En segundo lugar, la forma en que fue recibido por la gente. La multitud cantaba 'HOSANNA'. Estaban llenos de entusiasmo durante su entrada en la ciudad, pero se volvieron contra él tan rápidamente en unos días y exigieron su crucifixión.
