FIFTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME —C—
The gospel highlights the special vocation of Peter which also shows why he is supreme among the Apostles. Jesus was seen to have been teaching from Peter’s boat while he was giving instruction to Peter to lower his nets. Peter could have resisted the idea because he and his companions have tried hard enough the whole night but were unsuccessful to catch anything. But he did it anyways. To their surprise they caught a large number of fsh that their nets were at the point of breaking. There was a prior meeting between Jesus and Peter but this one was the turning point in the relationship between Jesus and Peter. Peter had his realization about the person of Jesus that he fell on the knees of Jesus saying: “Leave me Lord, I am a sinful man.” The miracle symbolized what Peter would be doing in the company of Jesus. From now on he would be fsher of men. The story proves that when Jesus calls we are on with big surprises!
Words are not enough to express my happiness and gratitude to many people who are willing to spend time, talent and treasure for the community. This week I wish to acknowledge the stewardship of CHARLIE AND JULIE WETZEL who have been serving the community as a couple for many years now. They serve in multiple ministries. Both of them serve as Eucharistic Ministers and Money counters. Charlie is also a Sacristan and at the same time involved in Food Ministry providing food for the needy. Thank you both for your untiring service to the Church and May the Lord bless you with good health and inner joy!
5 DOMINGO DE TIEMPO ORDINARIO —C—
El evangelio destaca la vocación especial de Pedro que también muestra por qué es supremo entre los Apóstoles. Se vio que Jesús había estado enseñando desde la barca de Pedro mientras le daba instrucciones a Pedro para que echara las redes. Pedro podría haberse resistido a la idea porque él y sus compañeros se esforzaron lo sufciente durante toda la noche pero no lograron atrapar nada. Pero lo hizo de todos modos. Para su sorpresa pescaron una gran cantidad de peces que sus redes estaban a punto de romperse. Hubo un encuentro previo entre Jesús y Pedro, pero este fue el punto de infexión en la relación entre Jesús y Pedro. Pedro se dio cuenta de la persona de Jesús que cayó sobre las rodillas de Jesús diciendo: "Déjame Señor, soy un hombre pecador". El milagro simbolizó lo que Pedro estaría haciendo en compañía de Jesús. De ahora en adelante sería pescador de hombres. ¡La historia prueba que cuando Jesús llama, nos encontramos con grandes sorpresas!
Las palabras no son sufcientes para expresar mi felicidad y gratitud a muchas personas que están dispuestas a dar su tiempo, talentos y tesoros para la comunidad. Esta semana deseo reconocer la administración de CHARLIE Y JULIE WETZEL, quienes han estado sirviendo a la comunidad como pareja durante muchos años. Sirven en múltiples ministerios. Ambos sirven como Ministros Eucarísticos y contadores de Dinero. Charlie también es sacristán y al mismo tiempo está involucrado en el Ministerio de Alimentos proporcionando comida a los necesitados. ¡Gracias muchachos por su incansable servicio a la Iglesia y que el Señor los bendiga con buena salud y alegría interior!
