FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT ---C---
The season of lent is almost ending as we are moving closer to the paschal feast. We will pass through the zone of suffering, to the zone of glory and comfort. Hence all the readings this fifth Sunday of lent are giving us hope and show us a very bright future for all of us to anticipate.
In the first reading, God tells us of the new things He has started doing among us and for us. He is restoring our hope and giving us every reason to continue living. This means that despite the difficulties of the present time, the Lord will put a smile on our faces soon. Therefore, we must be positive about the future, as we approach the paschal feast. This is because very soon God is ready to fulfill His promises to us.
Paul, in the second reading, encourages the Philippians to look toward the grace ahead and not to be fixated on what happened in the past. He knew that: The glory of the latter, shall be greater than that of the former. We must remain faithful in order to see the future glory to be revealed in Christ.
In the gospel, the Pharisees brought an adulterous woman to Christ. They thought that Christ will condemn her immediately and that they will be given permission to go ahead and stone her to death. However, they were wrong because Christ came to save and not to condemn. They were wrong because the ways of Christ are different from theirs. Instead of condemning her, Jesus restored her life and offered her a new chance to live. He simply told her “Go and sin no more.”
It is truly inspiring to see how the community grows. One of the signs that growth is happening, is the increase of the number of people who are willing to share their talents, time and treasure. This week I wish to thank MARIA DEL ROSARIO AGUILAR who has been generously sharing her gifts in a number of ministries. She is a Hospitality Minister, an active member of the Kitchen group and the Grupo de Oración. Thank you very much Maria, you are such a faithful steward!
QUINTO DOMINGO DE CUARESMA ---C---
La temporada de cuaresma está casi terminando a medida que nos acercamos a la fiesta pascual. Pasaremos de la zona del sufrimiento a la zona de la gloria y el consuelo. Por lo tanto, todas las lecturas de este quinto domingo de Cuaresma nos dan esperanza y nos muestran un futuro muy brillante para que todos lo anticipemos.
En la primera lectura, Dios nos habla de las cosas nuevas que ha comenzado a hacer entre nosotros y por nosotros. Él está restaurando nuestra esperanza y dándonos todas las razones para seguir viviendo. Esto significa que a pesar de las dificultades del tiempo presente, el Señor pondrá pronto una sonrisa en nuestros rostros. Por lo tanto, debemos ser positivos sobre el futuro, a medida que nos acercamos a la fiesta pascual. Esto se debe a que muy pronto Dios está listo para cumplir las promesas que nos ha hecho.
Pablo, en la segunda lectura, anima a los filipenses a mirar hacia la gracia que se avecina y a no obsesionarse con lo que sucedió en el pasado. Sabía que: La gloria de los últimos será mayor que la de los primeros. Debemos permanecer fieles para ver la gloria futura que se revelará en Cristo.
En el evangelio, los fariseos trajeron una mujer adúltera a Cristo. Pensaron que Cristo la condenaría inmediatamente y que se les daría permiso para seguir adelante y lapidarla hasta la muerte. Sin embargo, se equivocaron porque Cristo vino a salvar y no a condenar. Estaban equivocados porque los caminos de Cristo son diferentes a los de ellos. En lugar de condenarla, Jesús le devolvió la vida y le ofreció una nueva oportunidad de vivir. Él simplemente le dijo: “Ve y no peques más”.
Es realmente inspirador ver cómo crece la comunidad. Una de las señales de que el crecimiento está ocurriendo es el aumento del número de personas que están dispuestas a compartir sus talentos, tiempo y tesoro. Esta semana deseo agradecer a MARIA DEL ROSARIO AGUILAR quien generosamente ha estado compartiendo sus dones en varios ministerios. Es Ministra de Hostelería, miembro activo del grupo Cocina y del Grupo de Oración. ¡Muchas gracias María, eres una mayordoma tan fiel!
