SOLEMNITY OF THE LORD’S ASCENSION —C—
Diligence and hard work are two important factors in the life of every successful student. Diligence and hard work assure students to accomplish all examinations and requirements necessary for graduation. As an analogy, this may fall short of substance if we speak of the ascension as Jesus’ graduation day here on earth. He has done all that the Father asked him to do. He hurdles all the tests and examinations with flying colors. Now he is returning to his Father and sits at His right hand. We must realize, however, that Jesus does not abandon us. In fact, in his absence, he becomes even more present through the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in his name. The Ascension of the Lord reminds us that everything in this world is passing and transitory. Even Jesus’ physical presence has to come to an end in order to regain his glory. Therefore, even our life here has to end in order to meet God in the next life. We must not be too engrossed with things that do not last. Let us not waste our time in indulging in something which is not essential and instead focus on what endures till the end.

La diligencia y el trabajo duro son dos factores importantes en la vida de todo estudiante exitoso. Diligente y trabajador asegura a los estudiantes cumplir con todos los exámenes y requisitos necesarios para la graduación. Como analogía, esto puede no ser sustancial si hablamos de la ascensión como el día de graduación de Jesús aquí en la tierra. Ha hecho todo lo que el Padre le pidió que hiciera. Supera todas las pruebas y exámenes con gran éxito. Ahora regresa a su Padre y se sienta a su diestra. Sin embargo, debemos darnos cuenta de que Jesús no nos abandona. En efecto, en su ausencia se hace aún más presente por medio del Espíritu Santo que el Padre enviará en su nombre. La Ascensión del Señor nos recuerda que todo en este mundo es pasajero y transitorio. Incluso la presencia física de Jesús tiene que llegar a su fin para recuperar su gloria. Por lo tanto, incluso nuestra vida aquí tiene que terminar para encontrarnos con Dios en la próxima vida. No debemos estar demasiado absortos con cosas que no duran. No perdamos el tiempo complaciéndonos con algo que no es esencial y, en cambio, concentrémonos en lo que perdura hasta el final.
