TRINITY SUNDAY —C—
Trinity Sunday is the feast in honor of the Triune God and celebrated in the Christian Churches on the Sunday following the Pentecost. Truly this feast makes us realize that the Father has been revealed in the person of Christ his only Begotten Son and the Holy Spirit has been sent by the Father in the name of the Son. If this is not a special and unique union then I do not know what is. Our life is closely and uniquely connected to the mystery of the Trinity therefore we need to realize that the last thing a priest will do at our gravesite is to bless us with the sign of the cross over our body. This solemnity is a celebration of the three divine persons who are essentially the same in divinity but perform a unique and distinct functions. While our human brain is limited to understand the mystery behind the Trinity, our human heart is big enough to even embrace the rich mystery that revolves around it. This solemnity is an invitation to join a community with God and with each other. We must accept the whole Trinity. “No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also’ (1 Jn 2:23). The truth is: You cannot engage with one member of the Trinity without engaging with them all!
DOMINGO DE LA TRINIDAD —C—
El Domingo de la Trinidad es la fiesta en honor del Dios Uno y Trino y se celebra en las Iglesias cristianas el domingo siguiente a Pentecostés. Verdaderamente esta fiesta nos hace darnos cuenta de que el Padre se ha revelado en la persona de Cristo su Hijo unigénito y el Espíritu Santo ha sido enviado por el Padre en el nombre del Hijo. Si esto no es una unión especial y única entonces no sé qué es. Nuestra vida está conectada de manera estrecha y única con el misterio de la Trinidad, por lo tanto, debemos darnos cuenta de que lo último que hará un sacerdote en nuestra tumba es bendecirnos con la señal de la cruz sobre nuestro cuerpo. Esta solemnidad es una celebración de las tres personas divinas que son esencialmente iguales en divinidad pero realizan funciones únicas y distintas. Mientras que nuestro cerebro humano se limita a comprender el misterio detrás de la Trinidad, nuestro corazón humano es lo suficientemente grande como para abrazar el rico misterio que gira en torno a él. Esta solemnidad es una invitación a formar una comunidad con Dios y entre nosotros. Debemos aceptar toda la Trinidad. “Nadie que niega al Hijo tiene al Padre. El que confiesa al Hijo tiene también al Padre” (1 Jn 2,23). La verdad es: ¡No puedes comprometerte con un miembro de la Trinidad sin comprometerte con todos ellos!
