1ST SUNDAY OF LENT —A— How times flies and it’s Lenten Season once again. Don’t you feel like it was just Christmas season a few weeks back? It only proves that liturgy is alive and it’s dynamic. In fact last Wednesday we received ashes on our foreheads, reminding us that we are dust and unto dust we shall return. Like the liturgical season that moves around the life of Jesus Christ, we as Christians must also set our lives focused on him. Lenten season is a special time in which we are called to a life of holiness by doing three things: prayer, fasting and almsgiving. In other words lent is a special season where we must be aware of our special connection with Christ and the sacrifices he did to save all of us from our sins. He suffered, died and rose again for the salvation of all. Our Gospel this Sunday presents how Jesus was tempted by the devil for forty days and forty nights in the wilderness. But Satan was not successful , because Jesus knew how to handle the situation. He was able to resist temptation using the power of prayer and the guidance of the Scriptures Temptation is here and will surely stay. There is nothing to worry about, we can also have the power to overcome temptation if we spend time with Jesus and be absorbed in prayer. Amen.

PRIMER DOMINGO DE CUARESMA —A— Cómo pasa el tiempo y es temporada de Cuaresma una vez más. ¿No sientes que fue solo la temporada navideña hace unas semanas? Solo prueba que la liturgia está viva y es dinámica. De hecho el miércoles pasado recibimos cenizas en nuestra frente recordándonos que somos polvo y al polvo volveremos. Como el tiempo litúrgico que gira en torno a la vida de Jesucristo, nosotros como cristianos también debemos poner nuestra vida enfocada en él. La temporada de Cuaresma es un tiempo especial en el que estamos llamados a una vida de santidad haciendo tres cosas: oración, ayuno y limosna. En otras palabras, la Cuaresma es una temporada especial en la que debemos ser conscientes de nuestra conexión especial con Cristo y los sacrificios que hizo para salvarnos a todos de nuestros pecados. Padeció, murió y resucitó por la salvación de todos. Nuestro Evangelio de este domingo presenta cómo Jesús fue tentado por el diablo durante cuarenta días y cuarenta noches en el desierto. Pero Satanás no tuvo éxito porque Jesús sabía cómo manejar la situación. Pudo resistir las tentaciones usando el poder de la oración y la guía de las Escrituras. La tentación está aquí y seguramente se quedará. No hay nada de qué preocuparse, también podemos tener el poder de vencer las tentaciones si pasamos tiempo con Jesús y estamos absortos en la oración. Amén.
