PALM SUNDAY —A— The Forty days of Lent has come to its highest point --- the Holy Week and it begins with the celebration of Palm Sunday. This event is also known as the triumphant entry of Jesus unto Jerusalem. During this time we are given the opportunity to get a closer look at the unfolding of another important mystery in the life of Jesus Christ. This is a series of events leading to the fulfillment of a great promise of Salvation, the Paschal Mystery! Only if we pray deeply and meditate on the Lord’s Passion can make us grateful for what Jesus did. He even says: “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” His passion and death prove this statement. Our faith makes us connected with him in every episode of his life where as many of the people who welcomed him with joy were the same people who mocked and persecuted him. They did not spend time to get to know him fully well. During this Holy Week may we find time to seriously focus our attention on the sacrifices of Jesus which show the immensity of his love. Let us keep the Holy Week truly holy through prayer, fasting and alms giving. 

DOMINGO DE RAMOS —A— Los cuarenta días de Cuaresma han llegado a su punto más alto --- la Semana Santa y se inicia con la celebración del Domingo de Ramos. Este evento también se conoce como la entrada triunfal de Jesús a Jerusalén. Durante este tiempo se nos da la oportunidad de ver más de cerca el desarrollo de otro misterio importante en la vida de Jesucristo. ¡Esta es una serie de eventos que conducen al cumplimiento de una gran promesa de Salvación, el Misterio Pascual! Solo si oramos profundamente y meditamos en la Pasión del Señor, podemos estar agradecidos por lo que Jesús hizo. Incluso dice: “Nadie tiene mayor amor que este, que uno ponga su vida por sus amigos”. Su pasión y muerte prueban esta afirmación. Nuestra fe nos hace estar conectados con él en cada episodio de su vida donde muchas de las personas que lo acogieron con alegría fueron las mismas personas que se burlaron de él y lo persiguieron. No dedicaron tiempo a conocerlo completamente bien. Que durante esta Semana Santa encontremos tiempo para centrar seriamente nuestra atención en los sacrificios de Jesús que muestran la inmensidad de su amor. Mantengamos la Semana Santa verdaderamente santa a través de la oración, el ayuno y la limosna.
