FEAST OF THE HOLY FAMILY —C—
I am sure everybody is still very much in a Christmas mood, even as we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family. This feast is celebrated on Sunday following Christmas. This year we have these two feasts side-by- side. The Feast of the Holy Family is very relevant because we know that the family is the smallest unit of society and it is also the basic ecclesial community which is in the context of the home. While respect and acceptance are basic virtues, we cannot also deny the fact that there are certain realities, truths and natural order of things that society can’t simply change, or at least, push people to adopt. One of these is the basic idea of a family. Natural order can’t simply be changed to satisfy a smaller group of people. From the very beginning family is described by the scriptures as composed of the father, the mother and the children. From this basic structure each one is called to perform a role unique from each other. If it is diffcult to conceptualize what an ideal Christian family is, then we have Jesus, Mary and Joseph as our model--they are the Holy Family. Embracing the Christian value, a Christian family must respond to three challenges: frst, Christian family should provide its members a gift of a loving presence; second, it should be a source of healing; and third, it should be involved in the redemptive mission of the Church.
Our parish is becoming a rich seedbed of stewardship as more and more people are getting involved in different ministries. This week I wish to recognize the stewardship of Mr. Onofre and Mrs. Marlyn Tanacio. Both are serving the Church in a number of ways. Onofre “Ono” is a Sunday lector, while Marlyn is a Eucharistic minister. Both of them are sacristans and are very much involved in the Filipino Ministry, as they
FIESTA DE FAMILIA SAGRADA —C—
Estoy seguro de que todo el mundo todavía está muy de humor navideño, incluso mientras celebramos la Fiesta de la Sagrada Familia. Esta festa se celebra el domingo siguiente a la Navidad. Este año tenemos estas dos festas una al lado de la otra. La Fiesta de la Sagrada Familia es muy relevante porque sabemos que la familia es la unidad más pequeña de la sociedad y también es la comunidad eclesial de base que se encuentra en el contexto del hogar. Si bien el respeto y la aceptación son virtudes básicas, tampoco podemos negar el hecho de que existen ciertas realidades, verdades y un orden natural de las cosas que la sociedad no puede simplemente cambiar, o al menos, empujar a la gente a adoptar. Uno de ellos es la idea básica de una familia. El orden natural no se puede cambiar simplemente para satisfacer a un grupo más pequeño de personas. Desde el principio, las Escrituras describen a la familia como compuesta por el padre, la madre y los hijos. A partir de esta estructura básica, cada uno está llamado a desempeñar un papel único entre sí. Si es difícil conceptualizar qué es una familia cristiana ideal, entonces tenemos a Jesús, María y José como nuestro modelo: ellos son la Sagrada Familia. Adoptando el valor cristiano, una familia cristiana debe responder a tres desafíos: primero, la familia cristiana debe proporcionar a sus miembros el regalo de una presencia amorosa; segundo, debe ser una fuente de curación; y tercero, debe participar en la misión redentora de la Iglesia.
No Nuestra parroquia se está convirtiendo en un rico semillero de corresponsabilidad a medida que más y más personas se involucran en diferentes ministerios. Esta semana deseo reconocer la mayordomía del Sr. Onofre y la Sra. Marlyn Tanacio. Ambos sirven a la Iglesia de diversas formas. Onofre "Ono" es un lector dominical, mientras que Marlyn es un ministro eucarístico. Ambos son sacristanes y están muy involucrados en el Ministerio flipino, ya que lideran el Grupo de Alimentos Filipino. Gracias Marlyn y Ono y espero que nunca se cansen de servir a la comunidad. ¡Salud!
