3RD SUNDAY OF ADVENT —C—
One of the most important fgures in the history of salvation is John the Baptist. And his name is mentioned in the second and third Sunday of advent. He was our model and guide as we moved on with our advent journey. The third Sunday of advent is called GAUDETE SUNDAY which literally means REJOICE SUNDAY. We are called to rejoice because we reached the midpoint of our journey and we are inspired to focus on the unconditional love of God to us. John the Baptist provided us with some practical suggestions on how we can make our advent journey full of meaning and substance. He suggested that we must be generous in sharing our blessings with others. We can share clothes with the poor and food to the hungry. He told tax collectors to be honest, by not collecting more than the law prescribed. Soldiers must avoid extortion and be satisfed with their wages. John was true and honest with his mission. He told the people that he was not the Christ, but merely someone who will prepare his way.
This week I would like to recognize the stewardship of Mr. and Mrs. BERNARDO and ELISA VIDACA. They serve the Lord as husband and wife. She serves as Eucharistic minister and as a sacristan and together they help and serve with the Spanish food ministry. Thank you very much and may God bless you dearly
3 DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO —C—
Una de las fguras más importantes de la historia de la salvación es Juan el Bautista. Y su nombre se menciona en el segundo y tercer domingo de Adviento. Él fue nuestro modelo y guía a medida que avanzábamos con nuestro viaje de Adviento. El tercer domingo de Adviento se llama DOMINGO DE GAUDETE, que literalmente signifca DOMINGO DE GOZO. Estamos llamados a regocijarnos porque llegamos a la mitad de nuestro viaje y estamos inspirados a enfocarnos en el amor incondicional de Dios por nosotros. Juan el Bautista nos brindó algunas sugerencias prácticas sobre cómo podemos hacer que nuestro viaje de Adviento esté lleno de signifcado y sustancia. Sugirió que debemos ser generosos al compartir nuestras bendiciones con los demás. Podemos compartir ropa con los pobres y comida con los hambrientos. Les dijo a los recaudadores de impuestos que fueran honestos y que no recaudaran más de lo prescrito por la ley. Los soldados deben evitar la extorsión y estar satisfechos con su salario. Juan fue sincero y honesto con su misión. Le dijo a la gente que él no era el Cristo, sino simplemente alguien que prepararía su camino.
Esta semana me gustaría reconocer la mayordomía del Sr. y la Sra. BERNARDO y ELISA VIDACA. Sirven al Señor como marido y mujer. Ella se desempeña como ministra de la Eucaristía y como sacristán y juntos ayudan y sirven en el ministerio de alimentación español. Muchas gracias y que Dios los bendiga profundamente.
