4th SUNDAY OF ADVENT —C—
The story of the Visitation can be seen as an ordinary expression of love and concern for a dear relative who was in need of help. Mary showed her deep sensitivity to the needs of her cousin Elizabeth who was on her way to motherhood. However, digging more deeply into the story, we can definitely discover a much deeper theological insights from this meeting between two pregnant women. Realize that this event was preceded by two annunciation stories, namely, the annunciation to Zechariah of the birth of John the Baptist, to the aged Elizabeth and the much bigger annunciation of the birth of Jesus to the Blessed Virgin Mary. These interconnected events show that God was behind it. It was part of the divine plan from the beginning of salvation history. Similarly, both women allowed God to be in control of their lives and all they could do, was to cooperate. If only we can emulate the obedience of both women, I am very sure that great things can possibly happen to us too.
I can’t help but feel very proud to have been part of this wonderful community primarily because it is blessed with people who have the heart for service and stewardship. This week I want to recognize the kindness and stewardship of MR. JOE MORRIS, who together with another parishioner, spent much time in figuring the best way to install the last set of stained glass windows. Now we can truly enjoy and be inspired in our prayers and communal worship. Thank you very much Joe and may the Lord replenish your kindness and generosity!
4 DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO —C—
La historia de la Visitación puede verse como una expresión ordinaria de amor e interés por un pariente querido que necesitaba ayuda. María mostró su profunda sensibilidad a las necesidades de su prima Isabel que estaba en camino a la maternidad. Sin embargo, profundizando en la historia, definitivamente podemos descubrir una comprensión teológica mucho más profunda de este encuentro entre dos mujeres embarazadas. Tenga en cuenta que este evento fue precedido por dos historias de anunciación, a saber, la anunciación a Zacarías del nacimiento de Juan el Bautista a la anciana Isabel y la anunciación mucho mayor del nacimiento de Jesús a la Santísima Virgen María. Estos eventos interconectados muestran que Dios estaba detrás de esto. Fue parte del plan divino desde el comienzo de la historia de la salvación. De manera similar, ambas mujeres permitieron que Dios tuviera el control de sus vidas y todo lo que podían hacer era cooperar. Si tan solo pudiéramos emular la obediencia de ambas mujeres, estoy muy seguro de que también nos pueden pasar grandes cosas a nosotros.
No puedo evitar sentirme muy orgulloso de haber sido parte de esta maravillosa comunidad principalmente porque ha sido bendecida con personas que tienen el corazón para el servicio y la mayordomía. Esta semana quiero reconocer la bondad y la mayordomía de MR. JOE MORRIS, quien junto con otra persona había dedicado un tiempo a averiguar la mejor manera de instalar el último juego de vidrieras. Ahora podemos disfrutar verdaderamente e inspirarnos en nuestras oraciones y adoración comunitaria. Muchas gracias JOE. ¡Que el Señor reponga tu bondad y generosidad!
