FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT ---C---
LAETARE Sunday is the term used to describe the fourth Sunday of lent. Tradition tells that this Sunday has been a day celebration, within the austere period of lent. This period invites us to recognize the joy that awaits us as we all turn to God. And the joy to be found in our faith is a theme running through the gospel we read this Sunday.
The Parable of the Prodigal Son could be everyone’s story. Whether we identify ourselves with the younger son or the older son is beyond the point. What is more important now is to recognize that we have a God who is willing to be a father to us all the time. He is a father who is very compassionate, forgiving and full of mercy. And if until now your concept of God is someone who watches our every action and punishes every wrong move, then you need to think again. Maybe the god you think is just a product of your own scrupulous mind like the Pharisees during the time of Jesus. But our God is someone who sees the goodness in the person more than the failures and gives chances for a new life with Him
During this season of lent, have we made a significant change in our lives? Are we willing to go back to our God as a Father and ask for forgiveness for all the sins that we have committed?
Words can’t capture the joy I feel whenever I see people who serve in the Church with humility and sincerity. I must tell you that our Church is blessed with people who have a deep sense of mission and I have to express my gratitude to them. This week I wish to acknowledge the stewardship of MR. AND MRS. CHRIS AND LENN MAUER. This couple serves the community in various ways. Chris is a Knight of Columbus and a Hospitality Minister while Lenn is also a Hospitality minister and a money counter. On behalf of the community I wish to thank you for sharing your time, talent and treasure unselfishly. God bless you dearly!
CUARTO DOMINGO DE CUARESMA ---C---
LAETARE Domingo es el término usado para describir el cuarto domingo de cuaresma. Cuenta la tradición que este domingo ha sido un día de celebración, dentro del austero período de cuaresma. Este período nos invita a reconocer el gozo que nos espera cuando todos nos volvemos a Dios. Y el gozo que se encuentra en nuestra fe es un tema recurrente en el evangelio que leemos este domingo.
La parábola del hijo pródigo podría ser la historia de todos. Ya sea que nos identifiquemos con el hijo menor o con el hijo mayor está más allá del punto. Lo que es más importante ahora es reconocer que tenemos un Dios que está dispuesto a ser un padre para nosotros todo el tiempo. Es un padre muy compasivo, perdonador y lleno de misericordia. Y si hasta ahora tu concepto de Dios es alguien que observa cada acción nuestra y castiga cada paso en falso, entonces debes pensar de nuevo. Tal vez el dios que piensas es solo un producto de tu propia mente escrupulosa como los fariseos en la época de Jesús. Pero nuestro Dios es alguien que ve la bondad en la persona más que los fracasos y da oportunidades para una nueva vida con Él.
Durante este tiempo de Cuaresma, ¿hemos hecho un cambio significativo en nuestras vidas? ¿Estamos dispuestos a volver a nuestro Dios como Padre y pedir perdón por todos los pecados que hemos cometido?
Las palabras no pueden expresar el gozo que siento cada vez que veo personas que sirven en la Iglesia con humildad y sinceridad. Debo decirles que nuestra Iglesia está bendecida con personas que tienen un profundo sentido de misión y tengo que expresarles mi gratitud. Esta semana deseo reconocer la administración del SR. Y LA SRA. CHRIS Y LENN MAUER. Esta pareja sirve a la comunidad de varias maneras. Chris es Caballero de Colón y Ministro de Hospitalidad, mientras que Lenn también es ministro de Hospitalidad y contador de dinero. En nombre de la comunidad, deseo agradecerle por compartir su tiempo, talento y tesoro desinteresadamente. ¡Dios te bendiga cariño!
