FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING —B—
The 34th Sunday in ordinary time is the last Sunday before we enter a new season in the liturgical calendar. And it is the celebration of the feast of Christ the King. This feast is worth our reflection mainly because it carries a number of important theological and spiritual insights. We may ask, “Why is the feast of Christ being celebrated on the last Sunday in the Ordinary season?” It is nice to understand that it brings the idea that Jesus is the center of time as one season closes and the other begins. This reality signifies the fact that the Old Testament ends with Jesus and the New Testament begins with him too! As mentioned in the Book of Revelation “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the One who is, who was and who is to come.” It is also worth knowing why and when the feast was established. Pope Pius XI instituted the feast in 1925 and was intended to counteract the prevailing SECULARISM during that time. Secularism was a way of life which leaves God out of man’s thinking as he organizes his life, as if God does not exist. By celebrating the feast, we are reminded that all of us, including all the kings and world leaders, are under the power of the King of Kings, Christ the King of Heaven and Earth.

I am delighted to recognize the stewardship of Mr. and Mrs. MANUEL and ADELAIDA HERNANDEZ. This couple has been sharing their time, talents and treasure with the parish for many years now. Manuel and Adelaida both serve as Eucharistic ministers in the Spanish masses and together they also serve as Sacristans. Thank you to the both of you and may the Lord bless you now and forever!
FIESTA DE CRISTO REY —B—
El 34 domingo del tiempo ordinario es el último domingo antes de que entremos en una nueva temporada en el calendario litúrgico. Y es la celebración de la festa de Cristo Rey. Esta festa merece nuestra refexión principalmente porque conlleva una serie de importantes conocimientos teológicos y espirituales. Podemos preguntarnos: "¿Por qué se celebra la festa de Cristo el último domingo del tiempo ordinario?" Es bueno entender que trae la idea de que Jesús es el centro del tiempo cuando una temporada se cierra y la otra comienza. ¡Esta realidad signifca el hecho de que el Antiguo Testamento termina con Jesús y el Nuevo Testamento también comienza con él! Como se menciona en el Libro de Apocalipsis "Yo soy el Alfa y la Omega, el que es, el que era y el que ha de venir". También vale la pena saber por qué y cuándo se estableció la festa. El Papa Pío XI instituyó la festa en 1925 y tenía la intención de contrarrestar el SECULARISMO prevaleciente durante ese tiempo. El secularismo era una forma de vida que deja a Dios fuera del pensamiento del hombre cuando organiza su vida, como si Dios no existiera. Al celebrar la festa, se nos recuerda que todos nosotros, incluidos todos los reyes y líderes mundiales, estamos bajo el poder del Rey de reyes, Cristo, el Rey del cielo y la tierra.

Me complace reconocer la mayordomía del Sr. y la Sra. MANUEL y ADELAIDA HERNANDEZ. Esta pareja ha estado compartiendo su tiempo, talentos y tesoros con la parroquia durante muchos años. Tanto Manuel como Adelaida sirven como ministros de La Eucaristia en las misas de español y juntos también sirven como sacristanes. ¡Gracias a los dos y que el Señor los bendiga ahora y por siempre!
