TWENTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME —C— Meal Every baptized Christian is called to be a disciple. It is a call to follow the Lord and to serve him faithfully. And discipleship is not easy! However, Jesus himself will help us along the way. Remember last Sunday he taught us to be humble and never expect anything in return for favor done for others. We can follow him closely if we are willing to change our ways for the better detaching ourselves from any worldly attachments. Surely, discipleship requires total commitment and dedication of one’s self. In fact, the Gospel this Sunday tells us that we must prioritize the Lord over any form of human relationships and material attachments. The frst reading tells us that to follow the Lord we must be men and women of wisdom because wisdom will help us know beyond what our eyes can see and our hands can touch. It also allows us to distinguish what is worldly and what is of heaven. Moreover, our Gospel says that we must persevere until the end. It is not enough that we initially accept the call but it is imperative that we carry it on no matter how diffcult it becomes. However, there are people who would gladly join a ministry and could be on fre at the beginning but when trials and problems arise they easily give up and turn their backs on the Church.
23 DOMINGO DE TIEMPO ORDINARIO —C— Todo cristiano bautizado está llamado a ser discípulo. Es una llamada a seguir al Señor ya servirle felmente. ¡Y el discipulado no es fácil! Sin embargo, el mismo Jesús nos ayudará en el camino. Recuerda el domingo pasado nos enseñó a ser humildes y nunca esperar nada a cambio del favor hecho a los demás. Podemos seguirlo de cerca si estamos dispuestos a cambiar nuestras formas para mejorar, desprendiéndonos de cualquier apego mundano. Seguramente, el discipulado requiere un compromiso y dedicación total de uno mismo. De hecho, el Evangelio de este domingo nos dice que debemos priorizar al Señor sobre cualquier forma de relación humana y apego material. La primera lectura nos dice que para seguir al Señor debemos ser hombres y mujeres de sabiduría porque la sabiduría nos ayudará a saber más allá de lo que nuestros ojos pueden ver y nuestras manos pueden tocar. También nos permite distinguir lo que es mundano y lo que es del cielo. Además, nuestro Evangelio dice que debemos perseverar hasta el fnal. No es sufciente que inicialmente aceptemos el llamado, pero es imperativo que lo llevemos a cabo sin importar lo difícil que se vuelva. Sin embargo, hay personas que gustosamente se unirían a un ministerio y podrían estar ardiendo al principio, pero cuando surgen pruebas y problemas, fácilmente se dan por vencidos y le dan la espalda a la Iglesia.
