TWENTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME —C— “Lord will only a few people be saved?” It could be that someone from the crowd who was following Jesus asked this question. If I was among the people who followed to listen to Jesus and I happened to hear this man then I might be impressed because it will give me the impression that he was truly serious with his own salvation. Jesus answered the man using parable. He said: “Strive to enter the narrow gate, for many, I tell you attempt to enter but will not be strong enough.” Truly, the road to salvation is not at all easy. Sometimes the road is winding, bumpy and full of unnecessary turns but we need to be focus in order not to lose our way. Our Christian journey is truly challenging. We must have the right motivation and a clear understanding that sufferings are part and parcel of our daily Christian life. We must realize that there is no other way to the Kingdom of God except the way of the cross.
21 DOMINGO DE TIEMPO ORDINARIO —C— “Señor, ¿solo unas pocas personas se salvarán?” Podría ser que alguien de la multitud que estaba siguiendo a Jesús hizo esta pregunta. Si yo estuviera entre las personas que siguieron para escuchar a Jesús y escuché a este hombre, entonces podría quedar impresionado porque me dará la impresión de que realmente hablaba en serio con su propia salvación. Jesús le respondió al hombre usando una parábola. Él dijo: “Esfuércense por entrar por la puerta estrecha, porque muchos, les digo, intenten entrar pero no serán lo suficientemente fuertes”. Verdaderamente, el camino a la salvación no es nada fácil. A veces, el camino es sinuoso, lleno de baches y lleno de giros innecesarios, pero debemos estar concentrados para no perder el rumbo. Nuestro viaje cristiano es verdaderamente desafiante. Debemos tener la motivación correcta y una comprensión clara de que los sufrimientos son parte integral de nuestra vida cristiana diaria. Debemos darnos cuenta de que no hay otro camino hacia el Reino de Dios excepto el camino de la cruz.
