16TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME — A — On the Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary time we have been blessed with a series of parables which actually talk about the Kingdom of God namely, the parable of the sower, the parable of the mustard seed and the parable of the yeast. All these parables contain something important about the Kingdom of God. These parables tell us that in the Kingdom of God problems will be solved at their own time. Good and evil will co-exist with one another but the evil will not be uprooted instantly. There will be an appropriate time for that. God is very patient! He gives every individual person a chance for conversion. It could be like a mustard seed --- it is not a finished product. It could be the smallest seed but when grown could be the biggest of all plants where birds can find a place to stay. Similarly, the Kingdom of God has an effect like that of yeast. The process is hidden! It will take a while but surely time will come when the entire dough will be leavened and change will be visibly evident. If God is patient can we be patient too? Are we willing to give others chance for reform and change themselves instead of passing rush judgment on them? God does not want death of all the bad people but conversion that will lead them to eternal life. Our God is a compassionate and patient God.
16 DOMINGO DE TIEMPO ORDINARIO — A — En el Decimosexto Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario hemos sido bendecidos con una serie de parábolas que realmente hablan del Reino de Dios, a saber, la parábola del sembrador, la parábola del grano de mostaza y la parábola de la levadura. Todas estas parábolas contienen algo importante sobre el Reino de Dios. Estas parábolas nos dicen que en el Reino de Dios los problemas se resolverán a su debido tiempo. El bien y el mal coexistirán entre sí, pero el mal no será desarraigado instantáneamente. Habrá un momento apropiado para eso. ¡Dios es muy paciente! Él da a cada persona individual una oportunidad de conversión. Podría ser como una semilla de mostaza, no es un producto terminado. Podría ser la semilla más pequeña, pero cuando crezca podría ser la más grande de todas las plantas donde las aves pueden encontrar un lugar para quedarse. De manera similar, el Reino de Dios tiene un efecto como el de la levadura. ¡El proceso está oculto! Tomará un tiempo, pero seguramente llegará el momento en que toda la masa se leudará y el cambio será visiblemente evidente. Si Dios es paciente, ¿podemos serlo nosotros también? ¿Estamos dispuestos a dar a otros la oportunidad de reformarse y cambiarse a sí mismos en lugar de juzgarlos apresuradamente? Dios no quiere la muerte de todos los malos sino la conversión que los llevará a la vida eterna. Nuestro Dios es un Dios compasivo y paciente.
