FEAST OF THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD —C—
Today we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord which also marks the conclusion of the season of Christmas. It’s time to remove your Christmas decorations and put them away for next year. Personally, I believe that the season of Christmas should end on the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord for us to see the special connection with the Lord’s baptism and our own baptisms. We all know that Christmas is all about God’s love and concern for humanity which must be translated into our love and concern for others. It is more likely that the spirit of Christmas will also diminish and fades away with it. But the feast of the Lord’s Baptism can inspire us to be better Christians while recalling our baptismal promises together. Jesus truly had no need for baptism but because he became human like us then he had to subject himself with the same baptism you and I have received. He was baptized not with the same reason that we have to be baptized but that he can sanctify the water which is being used for our baptism. The most part of it is to show his obedience to the Father. On a personal note, I was baptized by the priest who after 30 years became my pastor in the first parish where I was assigned as the parochial vicar. I believe that it was not simply a coincidence but that God must have a special message for me.
BIG THANKS! Serving the Lord in our community could be both a responsibility and a privilege which you and I should gladly accept. On this regard that I want to recognize the stewardship of MR. AND MRS. MANUEL AND ROSALVA CHAVEZ who are both very active in serving our Lord. They both serve as Eucharistic Ministers in the Spanish Mass and actively helping in the Spanish Food Ministry. FIESTA DEL BAUTISMO DEL SEÑOR —C—
Hoy celebramos la Fiesta del Bautismo del Señor, que también marca la conclusión de la temporada navideña. Es hora de quitarse las decoraciones navideñas y guardarlas para el próximo año. Personalmente, creo que la temporada de Navidad debería terminar en la Fiesta del Bautismo del Señor para que podamos ver la conexión especial con el bautismo del Señor y nuestros propios bautismos. Todos sabemos que la Navidad tiene que ver con el amor y la preocupación de Dios por la humanidad, que debe traducirse en nuestro amor y preocupación por los demás. Es más probable que el espíritu navideño también disminuya y se desvanezca con él. Pero la fiesta del Bautismo del Señor puede inspirarnos a ser mejores cristianos mientras recordamos nuestras promesas bautismales juntos. Jesús realmente no necesitaba el bautismo, pero debido a que se hizo humano como nosotros, tuvo que someterse al mismo bautismo que tú y yo hemos recibido. No fue bautizado por la misma razón por la que tenemos que ser bautizados, sino porque puede santificar el agua que se usa para nuestro bautismo. La mayor parte es para mostrar su obediencia al Padre. A título personal, fui bautizado por el sacerdote que después de 30 años se convirtió en mi párroco en la primera parroquia donde fui asignado como vicario parroquial. Creo que no fue simplemente una coinciden.

En este sentido, quiero reconocer la dirección de SR. Y LA SRA. MANUEL Y ROSALVA CHAVEZ quienes son muy activos en el servicio a nuestro Señor. Ambos sirven como Ministros Eucarísticos en la Misa en Español y ayudan activamente en el Ministerio de Alimentos de España. ¡Muchas gracias por su servicio y que el Señor los bendiga hoy y siempre!
