SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME —C— When we decide to join any faith community, Resurrection Church for example, we must be aware that part of our responsibility is to get involved in the mission of the Church in building the Kingdom of God here in our parish. A great deal of being part of this vibrant community is to do two things: BEING and DOING. The BEING is spending time with Jesus in prayer and the doing is spending time in the service of the Lord. Today's Gospel presents a visit of Jesus to his friends Martha and Mary. The meeting will give us a hint that Jesus was a close friend to them. We can see two different ways of hospitality shown by the sisters. Martha was busy waiting on Jesus while Mary decided just to stay with him and listen. Burdened with much serving Martha told Jesus to ask Mary to help but Jesus told her that Mary chose the better part. We must however understand that Martha's effort was also appreciated. Both sisters showed their love for Jesus but Mary was more personal and intimate. In Christian living two things are important: PRAYER and SERVICE.
16 DOMINGO DE TIEMPO ORDINARIO —C— Cuando decidimos unirnos a cualquier comunidad de fe, Iglesia de la Resurrección por ejemplo, debemos ser conscientes de que parte de nuestra responsabilidad es involucrarnos en la misión de la Iglesia en la construcción del Reino de Dios aquí en nuestra parroquia. Una gran parte de ser parte de esta vibrante comunidad es hacer dos cosas: SER y HACER. El SER es pasar tiempo con Jesús en oración y el hacer es pasar tiempo en el servicio del Señor. El Evangelio de hoy presenta una visita de Jesús a sus amigas Marta y María. La reunión nos dará una pista de que Jesús era un amigo cercano para ellos. Podemos ver dos formas diferentes de hospitalidad mostradas por las hermanas. Marta estaba ocupada esperando a Jesús mientras que María decidió quedarse con él y escuchar. Marta, agobiada por mucho servicio, le dijo a Jesús que le pidiera ayuda a María, pero Jesús le dijo que María escogió la mejor parte. Sin embargo, debemos entender que el esfuerzo de Martha también fue apreciado. Ambas hermanas mostraron su amor por Jesús pero María fue más personal e íntima. En la vida cristiana son importantes dos cosas: la ORACIÓN y el SERVICIO.
