FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME —C—
We can recall that last Sunday Jesus was talking about the cost of discipleship. He honestly told the three men who expressed their intentions to follow him, that it will not be truly easy. Jesus acknowledged that the mission was tough, that he appointed 72 people to go ahead of him to wherever he was planning to visit. Working in pairs was more on the practical side of mission, rather than spiritual. So that in case they came to a situation where they needed to stand as witnesses, then the testimony of two people was rather credible. They were told to bring nothing which signified the seriousness and urgency of the mission. They had to be in the place of mission immediately to get the message across and tell the people that the Kingdom of God is at hand! I hope and pray that we will never lose our focus on the Lord, despite the many challenges that we can encounter as followers and servants of our Master.
14 DOMINGO DE TIEMPO ORDINARIO —C—
Podemos recordar que el domingo pasado Jesús estaba hablando del costo de discipulado. Honestamente les dijo a los tres hombres que expresaron su intenciones de seguirlo que no será verdaderamente fácil. Jesús reconoció que la misión era dura que nombró a 72 gente para ir delante de él a cualquier lugar que planeaba visitar. Trabajar en parejas estaba más en el lado práctico de la misión que espiritual. De modo que en caso de que llegaran a una situación en la que necesitaran como testigos, entonces el testimonio de dos personas fue bastante creíble. Se les dijo que no trajeran nada que indicara la seriedad y urgencia de la misión. Tenían que estar en el lugar de la misión. inmediatamente para transmitir el mensaje y decirle a la gente que ¡El reino de Dios está cerca! Espero y oro para que nunca perdamos nuestro enfoque en el Señor a pesar de los muchos desafíos que podemos encontrar como seguidores y servidores de nuestro Maestro.
