FEAST OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI —C—
“When it rains it pours” so goes the saying. Truly these past few weeks have been grace-filled and God’s blessings have been pouring upon us like rain. Recently we celebrated the Pentecost, then the Feast of the Trinity and now the Corpus Christi. These are clear indications that God is with us and He will remain with us forever. Today’s feast is a reminder that Jesus has consigned the gift of his Body and Blood into the hands of the Church. We have become the ministers of the gift which brings life to all who would approach the table of the Lord. While Jesus welcomes all who comes to him as he brings healing and relief, the Twelve Apostles seem to adopt the opposite attitude. They were so worried and pessimistic that they wanted to send the people away because of the insufficient resources they had. Jesus was telling them an important message: Just as he looked after them on their need, the Apostles must also do the same. The Apostles must not even be afraid despite the limited resources because Jesus is in charged and through his intervention all are satisfied in their hunger.
FIESTA DEL CORPUS CHRISTI —C—
“Cuando llueve a cántaros”, dice el dicho. Verdaderamente estas últimas semanas han estado llenas de gracia y las bendiciones de Dios se han derramado sobre nosotros como lluvia. Recientemente celebramos Pentecostés, luego la Fiesta de la Trinidad y ahora el Corpus Christi. Estas son indicaciones claras de que Dios está con nosotros y permanecerá con nosotros para siempre. La fiesta de hoy es un recordatorio de que Jesús ha puesto el don de su Cuerpo y Sangre en manos de la Iglesia. Nos hemos convertido en ministros del don que da vida a todos los que se acercan a la mesa del Señor. Mientras que Jesús da la bienvenida a todos los que vienen a él mientras trae sanidad y alivio, los Doce Apóstoles parecen adoptar la actitud opuesta. Estaban tan preocupados y pesimistas que querían despedir a la gente por la insuficiencia de recursos que tenían. Jesús les estaba diciendo un mensaje importante: Así como él los atendió en sus necesidades, los Apóstoles también deben hacer lo mismo. Los Apóstoles ni siquiera deben tener miedo a pesar de los recursos limitados porque Jesús está encargado y por su intervención todos son satisfechos en su hambre.
